Verse Like Water: the visiting poet program of Central Lakes College presents poet, playwright, and memoirist Nick Flynn. One of the great voices of our country, Nick will be the first of six writers this reading series is bringing to the Brainerd Lakes Region across 2018. Come for the verse, but stay for the book signing, and Nick's craft talk on creativity and the imagination at 1:30. This literary event is free and open to the public, and sponsored by the CLC English Department, Five Wings Arts Council, and Minnesota Public Radio.

The Friends Of The Brainerd Public Library along with the Crossing Arts Alliance are planning something fun for our spring event, and have just the thing to shake off the cold and celebrate 2018! Our Mardi Gras event will take place at Arrowwood Lodge on Friday, March 23. Join us for a social hour from 6 - 7 pm. There will be appetizers, photo ops, and plenty of themed fun! While enjoying your evening, you may also browse and bid on the Experience Auction sponsored by TCAA. At 7 pm jazz will be playing for your listening and dancing enjoyment from the Brainerd High School Jazz Band. Oscar and Michelle will once again be on hand to get the party started! Try your hand at a few steps, or just sit back and enjoy the music. Tickets are $20 for individuals or $35 for two. Dressing the era is of course encouraged, but not required.
