Grant Programs for Individuals

The Five Wings Art Council administers the following grant programs for individual artists living in the Five Wings region. These grant programs have been established to provide assistance for artists at various stages in their career development. Individual Artist Project Support Grants

  • Artists can apply for up to $2500 to be used to help complete their project and achieve their artistic goals.
  • Artists must have been a resident in Cass, Crow Wing, Todd, Morrison, or Wadena counties for at least 6 months.
  • Artists of any discipline can apply, including but not limited to; visual, performing, literacy, and media arts
  • Funds can be used to purchase supplies, equipment, tools, professional services, time, etc.
  • Applicant must provide a match of at least 25% of the total project cost. This match doesn’t have to be a cash expenditure, however. For example, the artist may use the value of their time working on the project, or the use of existing supplies on the project as their match.
  • Individual artist grant applications will be accepted on an ONGOING basis for grant programs. Please note that grant applications must be received by the first Friday of the month, in order to be reviewed at that month's FWAC Board meeting, held the fourth Tuesday of each month (except for July and December, when the board doesn't meet.) Projects cannot begin before two weeks after the board review and decisions.

Individual Artist Professional Development Grants

  • Artists, at any stage of their career, may apply for up to $1500 for funds that will help pay for their professional development.
  • Artists must have been a resident in Cass, Crow Wing, Todd, Morrison, or Wadena counties for at least 6 months.
  • Artists of any discipline can apply, including but not limited to; visual, performing, literacy, and media arts
  • Funds may be used for workshop fees, travel and lodging expenses related to attending workshops, one-on-one mentor fees, private instructions, and other forms of professional development.
  • Applicant must provide a match of at least 25% of the total project cost. This match doesn’t have to be a cash expenditure, however. For example, the artist may use the value of their time working on the project, or the use of existing supplies on the project as their match.
