ABOUT THE ARTISTS WORKING IN COMMUNITY INTENSIVE PROGRAM
Are you an artist, culture-bearer, or community changemaker, who would like to begin or deepen your work with community? If you live in Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, or Wadena Counties, or on Leech Lake Reservation, this program is for you!
In collaboration with Springboard for the Arts, Five Wings Arts Council is offering the Artist Working in Community Intensive. This three-month professional development program will help you develop skills to drive community change—whether that’s creating a mural to attract more people to your downtown or initiating an out-of-school program for youth at risk, or… (fill in your ideas here!).
A cohort of 10-20 artists/culture-bearers/community changemakers will be selected to work with Ricardo Beaird, Springboard for the Arts Community Development Director, and Molly Johnston, Rural Program Manager. Participants will learn methods to clarify their goals, techniques to ensure successful outcomes that better the community, and how to reach out to community organizations and businesses to expand their creative practice and income sources. Cohort members will gain concrete skills in leadership, organizing, program development and management, fundraising, and cross-sector collaboration, and discover how to adapt and respond to community change. By the end of the training, participants will have developed an action plan and identified collaborators with whom to do a project-- AND you’ll get $1000 to do that project!
