Grant Programs for Individuals | Artist Support Grants

Thanks to the generosity of the McKnight Foundation, the Five Wings Arts Council supports the development of artists who live in Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, and Wadena counties, and the Leech Lake Tribal Communities by providing funding support for projects and professional development.

Artists can apply for up to $3000 to help complete a project focused on their individual artistic and/or professional development goals within their artistic discipline. As a result of this grant funding, the artist will be able to achieve one or more of the following:

  • Overcome a barrier to significant, long-term success

  • Professionalize or increase artistic output and quality

  • Strengthen artistry or art career skills and knowledge

  • Complete a project that marks a milestone in his/her career

  • Reach a new community or market

Artists must be 18 years old and must be a resident of Cass, Crow Wing, Todd, Morrison, or Wadena counties for at least 6 months. Artists of any discipline can apply, including but not limited to; visual, performing, literacy, and media arts. Sorry, we can’t fund culinary or horticultural artists. Artists at any stage of their career can apply as long as they can share work samples to demonstrate the quality of their artwork. Funds can be used to purchase supplies, equipment, tools, professional services, time, etc. See Grant Guidelines for a more extensive list of eligible expenses.

To determine eligibility and for complete details, it is advised to read the following:

Guidelines for Individual Artist Grants prior to completing the application.

All applications are online and can be accessed by clicking this link: FWAC ONLINE GRANTS

Important Deadline Information:

Individual artist grant applications will be accepted on an ONGOING basis for grant programs. Please note that grant applications must be received by the first Friday of the month, in order to be reviewed at that month's FWAC Board meeting, held the fourth Tuesday of each month (except for July and December, when the board doesn't meet.) Projects should not begin before three weeks after the board review and decisions.
